The 3rd Asia-Pacific Conference on Plasma Physics (AAPPS-DPP2019) was held during November 4-8, 2019, in Hefei, China. Dr. Weixin Guo, a postdoctoral researcher from the Fusion and Plasma Institute at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, won the “Doctoral Scientist/Student Award ” (i.e. the U30 Award for young researchers below 30 years old), in recognition of her theoretical results of studying the parallel velocity shear turbulence driving impurity transport in hydrogen isotope plasma. The award was presented to Dr. Weixin Guo at the opening ceremony of the conference by Professor Kunioki Mima, chairman of the U30 award committee.
The Asia-Pacific Conference on Plasma Physics is a large-scale international conference initiated by plasma physics research institutions in China, Japan, Korea, India, etc. The conference focuses on 7 research topics including the fundamental plasma, magnetic fusion plasma, applied plasma, laser plasma, space & geomag plasma, solar/astro plasma, and cross disciplinary. The conference has attracted nearly 1000 participants with more than 400 presentations including plenary session and invited talks.
Since 2018, DPP has recognized young and talented doctoral scientists /students who are not more than 30 years old through the AAPPS-DPP U30 Doctoral Scientist / Student Award for their outstanding and innovative research achievement in plasma physics. In 2019, a total of six young scholars won the U30 award.
Weixin Guo pursued her doctoral degree at Huazhong University of Science and Technology from 2012 to 2018 under her advisorsProfessor Ge Zhuang and Professor Lu Wang. Since June 2018, he has been working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Fusion and Plasma Institute with the support of the “China Postdoctoral Innovative Talent Support Program”. Her main research interest is turbulent impurity transport, and the relevant papers can be found as follows:
